Birkirkara Ultras Player of The Round – Trevor Ciliaby Jonathan SpiteriOur group’s main aim is to stay behind the team both on and off the pitch. During matches we do so by singing various chants, parading club colours and delivering messages through banners. Our support though does not end once the final whistle is blown, but carries on outside the field of play. An initiative which really goes down well with the players is the ‘Player of the Round/Season’ Award. At the end of each of the first two rounds and at the end of the season, we as a group choose a player who has done his very utmost to help the team achieve or exceed its targets. Each individual is asked to cast a vote with first, second and third preferences. Points are summed up and obviously the player who tallies the highest number of points wins the award. 
This time round there was almost no uncertainty about the final outcome. Trevor Cilia won the award with a near to white-wash result. The group spoke to the Committee and Supporters Club who accepted to host the event during the Christmas Activity held on Monday the 28th of December. 
Trevor, visibly excited, was presented with a commemorative token in front of a packed hall. He was described as one of the best wingers Maltese football has to offer. He always dons the Stripes’ shirt with pride, has a ‘never die’ attitude and always strives to improve his football. He is a team player, an example for his fellow team mates and his lively performances must have surely caught the eye of the national coach. Very well done Trevor and keep it up!! 
During the evening, BU 97 scarves were gifted to the Coach and players to show our gratitude to the effort which everyone has been showing since the start of this campaign. One of the scarves will be used by any goalkeeper who is in the starting line up as a lucky charm. Let’s hope these serve to further motivate all the players and coaching staff in order to achieve respectable results come May!
